Local Natives / Hummingbird .
( this is not a review btw this is just me saying what I feel about this album wait isn't that a review I don't know )
I've been listening to this album for months now and I'm still very into it . I have this habit of putting a song/album on repeat till I get so sick of it I never want to listen to it ever again lmao but nope didn't happen to this album ! ( only happened to TDCC and the song Crave You )
Hummingbird to me compared to Gorilla Manor is very heavy on the lyrical side . Every song I listened to on this album , I get it , it's straightforward , it takes you back , it's make you think about someone or makes you want to think about someone if that even makes sense , it makes you want to stop whatever you're doing and just listen , subtle .
One song that really hit it off for me is Ceilings . The first time I listened to it I had it on repeat from noon till I fell asleep , the next morning it was still playing . I wish I was good with words to tell you why this song really clings to me . I don't know , maybe there's no need for an explanation . I'll just keep it to myself .
Moving on , tracks like You & I , Breakers , Colombia , Mt. Washington , really great haunting vocals by Ayer and Rice. Harmonies , riffs and drums , god they all just string together perfectly . Basically this is a straight up will slap you in the face with emotions album . It's impossible not to feel something personal when you listen to Hummingbird . It's honest without the boring . Like I said the lyrical structure of this album is really strong , I guess this is what brings the album together . You'd want to come home from a whatever day you had , put this album on and let it play into the night .
